Average cost of a trip in Spain
Hi there, my husband and I and our 1 year old are travelling to Spain in June on a 15 day vacation. I would like to get an idea of approximately how much we might end up spending per day in Spain.
We will be renting an apartment (hopefully costing us no more than 70 Euros) and we are planning to be eating in mostly and having a meal out once a day or once in two days. We will be renting a car for our drives from Madrid-Cordoba-Granada-Seville and then a flight from Seville to Barcelona. Could someone please give me ballpark figures of how much it costs to rent a car, fuel up, eat out in a decent restaurant etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. |
These are very difficult questions unless we know what you consider to be a "good" restaurant or what size of car you rent.
What would you spend on a good meal out for two at home (US?) and what sort of car will you want? |
If you map out your path using google maps it will give you the approx. gas costs at the bottom of the directions...

Menu del Dia (mid day meals) will set you back anything from 8€ to 13€ depending on where you eat. Evening meals will be a lot more expensive.
Fuel for the car will depend on engine size, fuel type and auto or manual, plus road conditions. The price can fluctuate a bit due to local taxes and trade. Here is the website to help you gain some idea of cost per litre: http://geoportal.mityc.es/hidrocarburos/eess/ Cost rentals can be gained via several comparison site. http://www.autoeurope.com/ http://www.booking-centre-online.com...spaansstart&uk |
You have to rent the car in advance - as in now - if you are going in June, so you will know exactly what it costs. (If you wait the price could be much higher and they might not have a car - esp if you are trying to get an automatic versus the usual standard.
Agree that you can get approx mileage and distance from mapping web sites. Food depends entirely on how much you want to sped. I'm assuming with an infant you will be eating an early lunch out and dinner in - since a 1 year old won't be up for dinner at 10 pm. |
Sorry - I hope you are prepared for the extreme heat, esp in the south (it often hits 100 and can go to 120). Be sure your apartment has good AC and access to a pool is really useful. Carry water at all time so you can stay hydrated and definitely keep the little one protected form the sun at all times.

Thanks a lot for all the info. It'll really help.
