Well, I never dreamed there would be so many postings to what I thought was a simple question. It's been interesting folks! Hope all of you have had a wonderful turkey day and yes, being able to travel and still get around good and for so many other things in my life, I am very thankful. Take care all.

I am 49, my wife is 47 and my next wife is 25.

I'm 49, but when my husband looks at me he still sees the 17 year old he fell in love with. Thank God love is blind.

Speaking of age... my friend sent me this yesterday via e-mail -

YOUR AGE BY EATING OUT

Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway - but your waiter may know!

Follow these steps - it only takes a minute:

1) First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat (more than once, but less than 10).

2) Multiply this number by 2.

3) Add 5

4) Multiply it by 50.

5) If you have already had your birthday this year, add 1757 ... If you haven't, add 1756.

6) Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number left.

The first digit of this was your original number of times you wanted to go out to a restaurant in a week, and the last two numbers are YOUR AGE!

*This is the only year (2007) that this formula will work, so spread it around before the year is over.*

Pretty freaky! Robyn :)>-

Every day above grounds a good day!

I'm alive and 45 and it sure beats the alternative!

tripgirl Nov 23rd, 2007 04:59 AM

I'm 46 and DH is 68, so I'll always feel young around him; BUT, he can run circles around me, so I guess my age is to HIS advantage!!

Really, the man can dance and stay up late and party till kingdom come!
Me: I'm in bed before 10pm some night!

cailin Nov 23rd, 2007 05:59 AM

I'm 32 and DH is 33.

Loveling Nov 23rd, 2007 06:22 AM

Robin: ooooh not so freaky as you need to
1) Give your year of birth
2) Answer wheter you have had your birthsay or not.

:) :)

I am 55 and I have just retired -- so that I can travel more.

My spouse is 63, soon to be 64.

He -- yes, this is Canada so 2 guys can marry -- is a prodigious traveller.

He is currently leaving Nairobi and heading further up-country in Kenya, on a business trip.

Travel this year has been modest, compared to previous years: Paris, Rome, Languedoc-Roussillon, Burgundy, Lithuania, Poland -- plus his Kenya jaunt.

Next month (after my business trips to Vancouver and Toronto -- yes, I said I was retired; don't ask) we head to NYC and DC then, on December 31, to Savannah GA for a month.

March 2008 is Rome, Paris, Tuscany -- same old treadmill!

RE aging:

Retirement seems to have arrested the process -- seriously!

Since I left my job this summer, I have eliminated caffeine, found a good healthful diet, resumed running (I'm an ex-marathoner), tried yoga......

My best friend Brett is 25 years my junior and now I feel I'll soon out-pace him, on the running circuit.

Which brings me back to travel:

I travel "smarter" now than ever before and I travel "healthier" than ever before.

Many of our urban trips are like hiking holidays: in Rome I averaged 5 hours walking daily and loved it!

Bottom line:

I thought retirement would feel like the end of something. And it absolutely does NOT -- indeed, feels like...well, not quite a new beginning but certainly an improvement in quality of life!

Age 27 by birth, but probably older by interests! lol

kappa Nov 24th, 2007 01:06 AM

Robyn, freaky yes. I tried the method on me and it worked!

Bravo tedgale! Nice post!!

Lots of young'uns on fodors, wow!

Kend, 39 to 40 is not as dramatic a jump as from 20 to 21, as you know and I am happy to tell you. The sun will rise again, the birds will sing and wake you up, the days will go on, and yes, I think you will eat your paella on sundays. Celebrate? But of course :)

kenderina Dec 4th, 2007 09:56 AM

Well, Comfy..I didn't notice the change from 20 to 21..so I probably won't notice this one either. But it is a good excuse to have a bigger celebration than usual, LOL

Almost 69 here but, so far, still able to enjoy traveling (now if only the $$ would cooperate).

I'm 60 now, so I guess my average age over my life is maybe 30? Any mathematicians here?

Hi lauraallais,

I too just turned 28, and my husband is 34. These days I feel quite a lot older though... seems like my job takes more than a year out of me every 12 months! :-(
