Ave train discounts?

Jump to last reply

In past Fodor thread comments, there was mention of significant internet discounts for the AVE trains in Spain. I am trying to get tickets on-line for a trip from Madrid to Seville. The listed cost for turisto is 83 euros (124 euros for preferente). Are discounts no longer available or is the listed price a discount from a higher price? I need the tickets for mid-May but I checked March and April dates as well--the listed cost is the same. I'm using the renfe.com site.
