Autoeurope vs. Avis at CDG

I've rented from Autoeurope at CDG before but just found a lower price from Avis for the same vehicle - a Renault Laguna diesel. While Autoeurope was okay (they substituted a diesel Citroen) the price diff is significant so I'd like to hear of experiences others have had at CDG with Avis. Where is their desk? Was the service and vehicle good? Anything else? Thanks all!

Did you call Autoeurope and ask them to match Avis's price?

RogerM - I agree with TimS, call AutoEurope and they should match the price with Avis.

The Renault Laguna diesel is our car of choice. However no one that I know of guarantees a particular car.

Ron's correct. There's no guarantee on what car one will end up with--though your price for an "equivalent" car is guaranteed. The company defines equivalent.

4 of us on a business trip reserved a mid-size car--I forget the exact car they used as the example of the type of car, but it had plenty of room for all of us with our luggage.

We ended up with an electric blue PT Cruiser--what a piece of garbage it was--cramped back seat and very little trunk space. It was "equivalent" according to the rental company.

Anyway, can't speak for Avis at CDG, but we rented through Autoeurope via www.gemut.com and ended up with Avis from Amsterdam airport. They were fine. When we returned the car in Amsterdam city 2 weeks later there was a mixup on the airport fee--it was supposed to have been included in the stated Autoeurope price, but their computer programming was messed up and charged us separately.

It was Saturday afternoon so their computer experts were not around, but they called one who walked the counter agent thru a minor programming change that corrected everything. Because I had to hang around for 30 minutes while they corrected it, they not only took the airport fee off the bill but the last day's rental fee as well.

Hi R,

As noted, call autoeurope and ask them to beat Avis's price.
