Auto transport via train from Munich
 

Hello All,

We are travelling to Munich to pick-up a car at the BMW plant in mid-december, but unfortunately with the summer tires that come with the car we will not be able to drive it in snow conditions. Because of this, we think we would like to move the car via train to a region of europe that does not have snow and drive the car there. There are multiple drop off points throughout europe where we can leave the car for the return trip to the states. Does anyone know of an auto-train that originates in Munich and heads south or west?

There used to be several auto-carrying trains originating in Munich with routes to Naples, Narbonne, and Rimini but they only ran/run in the summer period.

There are domestic routes within Germany from Munich to Berlin, for example and Dortmund but that doesn't help you.

I'm sorry I cannot offer more but topping this in case someone else has more current information.

It looks good to me. I've never used it myself, bur friends have and they were happy with it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tires on your car. Just don't leave Munich the day after a heavy snow fall, or when snow is forecast They do a good job of clearing the autobahns.

You can drive in a day from Munich to Venice and then you are out of the snow belt.

Go Munich-Salzburg on thge A-8, from Salzburg take A-10 autobahn south to Undine and on to Venice.
