Auto rental
Need advice on auto rental in Germany. Either picking up in Koln or Munchen. Which companies have you used. Did you get a GPS. How about road maps. Any other relevant thoughts.
Thanks globetrotterjfc

http://www.AutoEurope.com and http://www.Gemut.com are often used and recommended by regulars here. Both are brokers who can usually do a better deal than you can on your own.
Maps are essential and GPS extremely useful. I recommend you get one before you go so you can familiarize yourself with it and download updates/Points of Interest/program in routes etc.
Either TomTom or Garmin are safe bets. Keep it to use at home
or sell it on ebay/kijiji when you get home.

To my huge surprise, Hertz was the cheapest of all the car rentals I priced -- autoeurope, gemut, kemwel, sixt -- for a 9 day rental picked up in Frankfurt at the airport and returned to Friedrichshafen.

Hi,
We've rented through www.gemut.com for our last 3 trips picking up and returning in Germany. As for maps, we like Michelin maps which we bought at Barnes and Noble. Never used a GPS and now we don't use maps anymore.
