Auto Insurance from US to cover Car Rental in UK
we are traveling from US to UK ..taking a car rental for a week at LHR
does anyone know if Statefarm (Auto Insurance) in US will cover our rental in UK? I would call them..but they are closed over the weekend.

Your stateside insurance won't cover you. As Michael says -- your credit card <i>should</i> but make sure. Read the info included in your terms and conditions.
If not, there are travel insurance policies to cover rental cars -- or the ins. sold by the rental agency.

I have never heard of a North American car insurance company who would cover a rental car outside of North America. Maybe one exists... call your agent to check. But I doubt it.
AutoEurope.com offers complete insurance with zero CDW on some of their rentals.
I have also rented through http://www.economycarrentals.com... all their rentals include a zero deductible CDW.
Lastly, you can purchase stand alone insurance from a company like this: http://insurance4carhire.com/

US insurance not relevant to car rental.
If booked on a credit card, then you will likely have some level of coverage -- call them.
At point of rental you will be offered the (pricey) options for various types of insurance. Since we have Citicard MC and it carries great rental car coverage we decline all. Yhere was one exception, and this is where pre planning and calling your card company comes in, when we rented in San Diego our CC advised us to add the rental car theft coverage, since theft of autos close to Mexico border is a huge issue and the extra coverage would give instant car replacement.

US auto insurance does NOT cover you in europe. However, you should have coverage through your credit card - but you need to contact them to see what is offered by your particular card - and what the rules are. If there is a sizable deductible you may want to cover that with insurance from the rental agency - as long as that doesn;t invalidate your CC coverage.

HBC Car exceeded our expectations
We had friends that were travelling to Orlando on 28th March for 2 weeks. We haven't yet booked our car hire company.
Any help/advice from you lovely people would be greatly received. And we find HBC Cars, how give us best solution.
I hope you find one as cheap as your original quote.
Just a few things more...
I don't need a Green Card or anything do I, that's just if you drive your OWN car abroad on your own insurance, yes?
All the insurance I require will be taken out as part of the car hire, yes - if so, any rough idea how much they charge?
Finally, how much deposit will they want, and where is the nearest petrol station and how much is fuel costing over there?

US car insureance will NOT cover you in europe. Your credit card you are using to rent the car should provide insurance - but you need to contact them - since the coverage differs by the type of card (Visa, MC, AmEx) , the level of card (gold, platinum, black, etc) and which bank issues the card. You need to get the details on this before you decide what - it any insurance you shuold take from the car rental company.
(Some credit cards do NOT cover you if you buy any insurance from the car rental agency - but at the same time they may have sizable deductibles - up to $1000 - that you would have to cover yourself.)
