AutoEurope, which we have used more than once is, as someone above said, a consolidator.

If the company that AutoEurope uses charges a drop fee, I can assure you that drop fee is going to be passed along to you by AutoEurope.

In fact, when you use the AutoEurope website to arrange a rental and the return location significantly differs from the pick-up location then you will get a notice that a drop fee may be involved and that AutoEurope will be notifying you of the "final price" which includes that drop fee.

Every car rental agency puts a hold on some amount of money when you rent the car - usually it is the same as the insurance deductible. You ca avoid it by buying insurance which is 100% coverage but that is very expensive.

You seem to be saying that your credit card did not have any funds available that they could put a hold on. Seems weird to head out for a trip with a credit limit that's almost 100% spent already. How do you pay for everything else?

If Auto Europe would have clearly inform I need 1600€ on my CB, I would have done it easily !
But they don't say that, they only say there is a franchise of 1600€...
And then, I called them for a solution (eg I have 3 CB that all 3 together have more than 1600), they reply me :

"look at the other people in the queue, they all have 1600€ on their account"

That was the Haha moment ..

Ha ha.

Ya numpty.

pariswat Dec 19th, 2015 02:10 AM

Ya numpty ??

Err would you translate for a poor Belgian ?

BTW that is one of the reasons I have an Amex - no limit.

Auto Europe, which I have used more than 200 times, never says that there is a "franchise" on anything. If you can't read the voucher details, that's your problem. And if you don't have enough money on a SINGLE credit card (not $1600 on THREE of them) for a hold on your account, well, what did you expect?

You left home without enough money/credit for a vacation. NOT AutoEurope's fault.

"franchise" = "deductible" for anybody who is lost here.

never says that there is a "franchise" on anything

Was FABROSS using the French site?

StCirq Dec 19th, 2015 10:45 AM

<<"franchise" = "deductible" for anybody who is lost here>>

Perfectly aware of that. Who knows what he was using?

pariswat, luv, you're not a numpty - we just have some language issues here, maybe, and some issues with understanding the rules for renting cars in Europe.
