Austria for 2 days
yes, as unfavorable as it, my dear readers, i'm in austria for only 2 days...i'll be arriving from Budapest by..train? I really want to see an alpine village in all its flowering glory and towering mountains...i'll be there Sept 1st weekend....please tell me...do i have hope or must i hang out in Vienna alone (2 hr train ride from Budapest).
Thanks |
You can take a day trip from Vienna to Melk. See the abbey, stroll through the town, take the boat to Durnstein, rent a bike and bike around and then make your way back to Vienna by train (Durnstein to Krems to Vienna).

do you think hellstat would be too much? spend 1 night in vienna and 1 night in hellstat? it's a 4 hour train ride - it seems really pretty....
i'll check out Melk and Durnstein thanks! |
Hallstatt is a very pretty village! Really depends on your flight departure, I guess, from a timing standpoint. I'm assuming that you are flying out of Vienna.
Maybe look at St. Wolfgang or St. Gilgen or Salzburg, also. All great places! |
thanks :) well the option is we arrive in Vienna on the 4rth morning by train from Budapest...so 2 hour train ride...
We have until 6th morning. I'll take a look at your recommendations. thanks! |
