AUSTRIA & ITALY VACATION RECOMMENDATIONS

My husband and I are planning a trip for our 10th wedding anniversary in October. We are planning to visit Austria & Italy. We have 8 nights total. We are considering Salzburg or Innsbrook, Austria. Which one of the two would you visit? And, we are planning to go to Venice, Italy, and would like to know what other city in Italy you suggest. We would like something charming and less touristy than Venice. Thanks a lot!

Salzburg and Innsbruck are both nice, but IMO the former has a particular charm. If I must suggest, I would stay 1 night in Salzburg, 1 night in Innsbruck, 3 nights in Venice and then either head to Verona (famous for its the arena and Juliet's house) for 1 night, Padua (for St. Anthony's Church, and the last night... maybe Sirmione a little town on the edge of Lake Garda.

I thought Salzburg was more interesting and had more to do than Innsbruck. Everywhere in Italy is charming!

I loved both Salzburg and Inssbruck, but found Salzburg to be more charming and not quite as busy as Innsbruck.

Venice is a must for any romantic trip. My husband and I renewed our vows there for our tenth anniversary and it was absolutely perfect.

Congrats and good luck!

Bringing your message back up "to the top", since you are relatively new here.

And on another (duplicative) post here, you got this little useful note of instruction (which Fodors fails to let you know about, as a new registrant)...

Hi,

With 8 days only, I would spend the Italian portion in Venice.

Actually, I would spend the whole 8 days in Florence and Venice, but that's just my humble opinion.
