Auschwitz - Full Day Study Tour vs 3.5 Hour Tour
We will be visiting Auschwitz in September 2009 and we want an in depth tour of Auschwitz. Has anyone taken the full day study tour? It lasts 6 hours and goes into great depth. There is also a 3.5 hour tour with a private guide that we are considering. Can anyone comment on these options?
Thanks! |
I have not been to Aushwitz, but took a half day tour of Dachau, just outside of Munich, last year. Whether you take the all day or shorter version may depend on your level of historical or possibly family interest. The experience is not for the faint of heart but well worth it.

3.5 hrs is just a regular tourist tour with 6hr or 8hr tours you will be accessing and seeing more ...
http://en.auschwitz.org.pl/z/index.p...id=57&Itemid=1 if you are looking for in depth tour you should be taking at least 6 hour tour ... unless you think that anything over 4hours of seeing death and pain be too much for your well being - then see as much as you can ... this camp is huge ... a lot to "digest" ... |
We took a tour 2 years ago, and I was very disappointed. It was too quick, you really need a lot of time to digest this site. I would go with the in-depth 6 or 8 hr tour.

You can also take the shorter tour and then spend more time there on your own, with a good guide book. That's what I did. I felt it was important to spend time alone there, without the distraction and time constraints of a tour.
The shorter tour can be a bit rushed b/c there's a lot to see at Auschwitz/Birkenau, but I think it's worth doing, especially if you're lucky enough to get a good guide. |
Hi; A lot has to do with your own reasoning for visiting. It seems like you should consider the full day tour. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/auschwi...entration_camp Dick
