Aigues Mortes, St. Guilhem-le-Desert, Uzes (twice--I love that town!), beach (twice b/c of grandchildren), Anduze and a nearby zip line park, Pont du Gard (swimming in the river there), Grotte de Clamouse, Aimargues (visited friends there), Nimes, Sommieres, wineries, oil oil cooperative, and my oldest granddaughter (11) and her mom went horseback riding along the beach at Grau de Roi early one morning. Each trip was less than an hour away (except for St. Guilhem, probably 1.5 hrs.) so we weren't ever in the car for a long time. We took a relaxed approach to the trip and with 10 of us, we never left the house early in the morning and always back by late afternoon. Had we been all adults we might have done more strenuous sight-seeing but this way we all got to see something we wanted to, and the young kids did not get overly tired. We made lots of trips to the grocery store and really enjoyed dining under the olive tree in our garden. We ate out some, also, mostly at lunch time.
Happy planning!

Should add that working out the logistics was not difficult at all. I found the house, and my daughter, daughter-in-law, and I met a couple of times to coordinate flights, train schedules, Paris hotel reservations, and each family rented its own car. As it turned out, we arrived right in the middle of the train strike last June!

Hi misha2 - we stay in Queens Gardens in Paphos.

I don't have a link to the complex as such but there are plenty of independent renters on sites such as ownersdirect, tripadvisor etc.

Sandralist, thanks for your support and suggestions. Grandmere and LittleJane, I do appreciate the info. Research continues.

MMePerdue, some of those HF holidays sound terrific. Do you know people who have been?

MmePerdu Feb 19th, 2015 09:29 AM

No, misha, I don't. I got very close to booking one of their walking trips in Italy and didn't, based on unrelated issues, coordinating time with a friend. But while I was considering it, the experience with the people at HF was good, found them very responsive. The company has been around for some time and in the downturn of recent years, some companies didn't survive. So I figure they have a loyal following which says a lot. It appears to me they offer very good value for the modest cost.

It does seem that way. Thanks!
