Audio guide good enough in Vatican Museum?

My husband and I are going to be in Rome in October this year. I have heard about Context (Scala Reale Tour) and have made a reservation for the Old Rome Tour. However, I am thinking if renting an audioguide for the Vatican Museum-Sistine Chapel will be good enough without using a guidetour.

Please help!

Hi

My wife and I went to Rome for the first time in July. We had a guided tour of the museums but on other trips that we have gone to an audio guide has been quite nice. You should also think about getting a god guidebook so you can get some information there as you walk around. I have posted a trip report with some pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com Maybe you can find some useful information there.

Regards
Gard

I don't know what you would consider "good enough" and we've never had a guided tour of the Vatican. However, we did find its audio tour to be the best one we've ever experienced at any museum.

I also found the audioguide to the Vatican Museums to be very good. I've used it a couple of times. I like to wander at my own rate and usually spend hours playing with the audioguides however there is certainly lots of information on them. More than you could ever listen to completely. Not the same experience as a guide so it depends how you like to do it but i certainly would recommend the audioguide.

Thank you for all your replies.
I made a reservation for the Ancient Rome Tour and the rest like the Vatican Museum, I am taking all your suggestions and advices by just taking the tour on our pace and rent an audioguides.
