Auber metro station incident 27.08.16

Hi there,

I was waiting for the RER A early evening on the 27th August when an incident happened causing everyone on the station to run for the exit, me included.

I heard a woman screaming and a couple of banging noises and then just a lot of people running for the exit.

As I was one to leave I do not know what happened at the end of the station and was wondering if anyone on here knows or could help me to find out?

Me and my family from the UK were quite shook up from this and would like to know the full story to rest our minds.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

It's unlikely to be anything major or it would have been all over the news by now. And it's three days ago, so not sure what any info at this stage will do other than satisfy idle/morbid curiosity. You've either coped fine since the 27th or come home in a panic. Either way, it's fish and chip paper now - if it was ever worth printing in the first place.

Stuff like that happens all the time where I live, in metro and elsewhere, so I imagine it was nothing serious. If it were some terrible tragedy or shooting or whatever, you can assume it would have been in the international news.

IN any case, I searched 4 Parisian daily newspapers since that date, and it wasn't mentioned in any of them. In fact, there were quite a few articles about RER A during that period, but just delays due to work and apparently an electrical shortage shut things down on 23 august. RER A's Twitter account (yes, they have one) doesn't even mention the incident.

Thanks for the reply,

I haven't only just got back to the UK hence why I have only been able to find somewhere like this to ask.

I was merely putting this on here to see if anyone have anything on this, but I agree, probably something that turned into nothing.

A couple of weeks ago, a terminal full of people at LAX went into full panic mode when they heard loud voices, yelling, screaming, etc. Turns out it was a group of people watching the Olympics on TV in a bar.

Last Sunday night, same airport, people ran out of three terminals because of a RUMOR of an active shooter. People were injured in the stampede, but there was no shooter.

Herd mentality can be a dangerous thing.

Keep calm and carry on.

Some crazy peopel keep a blog of the incidents...

Nothing on 27 08 eve.
Or they were partying and didn't keep track of it.
Anyway some reading for the fans...

Ps : is quite shook up a correct form or some slang or just a mistake ?
I learnt to say 'I was shaken'.

Slang

Shook up is grammatically wrong but it's so prevalent that everyone uses it, just like "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
It's sort of a dialect.

Thanks for the irrelevant comments

I only made this to see if anyone had any information on this not to be told what I can and can't say.

Time wasting.

Cassiejad26795, overreacting much?

Dukey1 Sep 1st, 2016 01:27 PM

Christina, I'm sorry but we KNOW where you live and I somehow doubt that "people are running for the exits" all the time.

Loacker Sep 1st, 2016 02:00 PM

Dukey1 seems to enjoy contradicting everyone.
