ATMs in St. Petersburg
 

Leaving in 27 days for a riverboat cruise, St. Petersburg to Moscow. Just recently have read some posts about the ATMs in Russia being written in Russian, which makes perfect sense. I'd just not thought about it before now. Those of you who've used ATMs in Russia, particularly in St. Petersburg-were you able to figure out what to do if English is your only language? Thanks.

We had no problem using the ATMs in St. Petersburg. I do not remember if it had an English prompt or not but we figured it out very easily.

The only problem we encountered was totally our fault. The ENTER button on the ATM is located in a different place. After traveling for a month and using ATMs daily we just got in the habit of hitting the same button, but on this ATM it was in a different location. It actually locked out our card. NO biggie, we just called our bank and verified we had tried to use it, and it was unlocked for use. Again, just be aware of the placement of the buttons.

If they are like those in western Europe , when tihey detect a foreign card, the first screen will offer lots of different languages. Just select the flag that represents your language -- the Union Jack -- and proceed in English.

I lived in St. Petersburg. All the ATMs I used had a prompt in English. You should be fine.
