ATM Transaction Fees
Any idea of the current ATM transaction fees for Credit Lyonnais, Societe Generale, or Credit Mutuale?
|
ellenm,
The only Cash Machine (ATM) fees charged on european transactions are those of your bank. Check with them. Curious |
None of them charges a fee.

Are you thinking about opening a bank account with them? If so, they should tell you, but from what I've seen, French banks charge about the same for a non-network ATM withdrawal as US banks (ie, around 1-2 euro). Some fees I've seen for European banks are that they charge more for non-EU bank ATM withdrawals (more like about 4 euro), compared to non-network EU bank's ATMs. I'm glad my bank doesn't do that in the US, they charge the same for a US or nonUS out-of-network ATM.

Didn't have a problem last year using ATM machines at banks in Italy, Spain & France. Always verified they participated in the Cirrus network (the network which my ATM card indicated).
Also had verified with my bank before leaving the US that there would be no fee charged for using european ATM machines. |
Different banks have different agreements with different US banks. I bank with Bank of America in the US, and if I use BNP in France there is no charge for using their ATM. I used a Credit Lyonnais for one ATM withdrawal when I couldn't find a BNP and was charged $ 1.50 to withdraw 300 euro from my checking account.

Like Patrick my B of A ATM card is affiliated with BNP so there was no fee involved. There are many BNP locations in Paris so it was very easy when I needed cash.
