ATM Network availability?
I checked with my bank and was told the only ATMs I can use on my trip to Ireland this month must be in the PLUS Network (similar to Cirrus). How common is PLUS in Ireland and Scotland? Will I have trouble finding one in places such as Kinsale, Killarney, Cashel, Dingle, etc.?

There's a Credit and Debit Card
Acceptance in Ireland website at
Http://www.iol.ie/~discover/cards.htm

It says that
All EuroCard/MasterCard ATMs also accept Visa, Plus, and Eurocheque cards

It also gives information about availability of ATMs

Mine uses the Plus network and they were readily available.

Bill

We made sure we had two seperate ATM's. Mine didn't work in certain places. It worked in Dublin then quit working for a while. The girlfriend's card worked where mine didn't.
Make sure it is hooked up to your CHECKING account. It won't work on a savings account.
Mine is a MC.
Also, remember that your bank may charge a $5 service fee. I got hit every time I used it.
We also traveled to England where we used Pounds sterling. Get enough money but not too much.

Amy, the two big banks in Ireland are AIB http://www.aib.ie and Bank of Ireland http://www.boi.ie I bank with AIB and their ATM cards use PLUS so I'm guessing their ATMs do too. I'm not certain if Bank of Ireland machines accept foreign PLUS cards, they do accept AIB ATM cards. I'm pretty sure there's an AIB ATM in each of the places you mention, confirm this online if you wish using their branch locator

http://www.aib.ie/servlet/ContentSer...461&channel=HP
