ATM LIMIT IN PARIS

Hello,
I read somewhere that regardless of what your daily ATM limit is Paris only allows you $300.00. Is this true?

There are enough ATMs from different banks in paris that you can always withdraw from more than one to go beyond the limit if it exists.

There are 2 things to consider

1) how much your bank will allow you to get in one day
2) how much an ATM will allow you to withdraw in one transaction.

If your 1) limit is higher than the 2) limit then all you do is to do 2 or more transactions - and in most cases you can do it at the same ATM.

Hi

When I checked this with my bank a few years ago I was told that I did have a weekly limit here at home in Norway but when I travel abroad there was no limit. Do you need more than 300$ of cash each day? Remember that you can also use your card for shopping and eating out instead of paying with cash.

My wife and I went to Paris in April (see my trip report on http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm ) and we used our credit/debit cards without any problems :d

No, it is not true.

My ATM limit in Paris is 460€ a day, but it is set by my bank, not the machine in the street.
