ATM Exchange Rate

What is or was the latest exchange rate you got on the Euro from an ATM recently?

Statia Oct 16th, 2005 02:51 PM

The rate is 1.20 as of today, but that might vary slightly from ATM to ATM.

Statia Oct 16th, 2005 02:52 PM

That's assuming you are referring to US Dollars and Euros.

Obviously, the exchange rates change daily. What you probably mean to ask is what conversion rate - extra percent added to the day's average exchange rate - will your bank/the other bank charge you? Last month, my credit union charged me 1% per transaction (for Euros and all other currency) but no ATM fees (from them or from the ATM owners in Europe). Check with your bank/credit union before leaving.

As of last week, the exchange on my Visa card for ATM transactions in France/Italy last week were about 1.225

Marilyn Oct 16th, 2005 03:58 PM

Last week of Sept I got $1.22 and $1.21 in Paris with my ATM (no additional charges per transaction).

Sometimes the conversion fee is buried in the quoted exchange rate. If you see a rate of 1.21 for the transaction in your bank statement, the real exchange rate that day may have been 1.20. Call your bank and ask.

Net cost for 100 Euro = $121.27 last week at Deutsche Bank with my BofA ATM. No additional fee.

smalti Oct 16th, 2005 06:39 PM

Last week I got a rate of 121.25 in Munich (plus a 1% fee).

When I contacted my bank, they said there is an extra fee if I use an ATM (due to maintenance), but no extra fee if I go to a bank to withdraw.
