ATM at Rome Termini?
Does anyone know if there is an ATM machine at the Rome Termini train station? Or and Ameican Express office open nearby? We will be arriving around 7:30 pm -- are American Express offices open that late?

We need to pay for our B&B in cash, so will either need to travel from Germany on the train with quite a bit of cash. The B&B will take Amer Express traveler checks, but charges 2% handling fee. Does anyone know if this is more or less than the ATM fee will be?

We're confused about our options. If anyone can help clarify or recommend anything, we'd sure appreciate your input. Of course, you can tell we've never been to Rome before.

There are ATM machines at Termini. Just keep an eye out for them. Amex office is in Piazza Spagna and closes maybe around 6:00ish (not quite sure).

Just a note, if you are withdrawling large amounts of cash, maybe the train station is not the best place to do it -- too many shady people around.

ATM fees depends on your bank.

Use the ATM. Take the normal precautions you'd take in an American big city, of course, but don't be put off using it. It's definitely cheaper.

Doug

Hi Larry. Are you taking the train into Rome. There is an ATM machine directly accross from the train ticket window near the tracks in the airport.

Amalia, Doug and Sherry. Thanks so much for your info and advice. Not knowing what lies ahead of you in your travels, seems we always imagine things so differently than they really are. That's why this board is so good to visit and use. Your help has lifted my spirits and confidence.

We used an ATM at the Termini a few weeks ago. As you exit the train (walking toward the station), we used one on the far right side of the station (along track 1) It was near the bathrooms and rental car offices.
