Athens to port - best way
We are considering taking the ship's excursion into Athens and then returning back to the ship (RCCL) on our own.
What would be the best way to get back? Taxi or Metro? Also how much time should we allow? Would anyone know the approximate cost for a taxi? Debbie |
Depending on time of day I would allow 1 hour we paid 20 Euro. the metro tales you to the port but it can be a long walk to your cruise ship . or you could take the Metro then get a taxi which would be quicker

I think the metro takes about 1/2 hour from Monastraki. You should allow 45 min. Then catch a taxi to your cruise ship if necessary. Almost in front of the end of the Metro are the start of the ferry boats. I don't know where the cruise ships are anchored.

Metro to the port, then taxi to the cruise ship, sounds like your best option. Be aware, though, Athens taxi drivers are a rapacious lot. It may cost you nearly as much to get from metro to cruise ship as if you took the taxi from central Athens in the first place.

Thanks for all of your replies. They were very helpful.

It has been two years since we took a cab from the port to downtown however it cost 25 Euros during rush hour.
Because the cruise ship port is a bit of a hike from the Metro line I would suggest you just bite the bullet and take a taxi since you will likely want to maximize your time in Athens. |
Thanks for the tips and the approximate price. It's good to know what to expect in advance.
