Athens To Meteora

HelloHello,
I will be travelling from Athens to Meteora mid August and is looking for some advice. If we take the train, how do we see Meteora and Delphi? And return back to Athens? Is car a better option than train. I believe the train journey is very scenic. What do my forum friends suggest? Looking forward to hearing back.

I took the train from Meteora to Athens. I had been using buses north of Meteora. In the town itself I hired a taxi to take me to the monasteries. It was not expensive, but it was a few years back.

I have only ever done this trip by car, much prefer the freedom that gives me.

Thank you so much!
Did you visit Delphi as well?

I did the Peloponnese with a tour group and we visited Delphi on the way. Checking Rome2Rio turns up a KTEL bus and faster train + bus combo.

Bus Athens to Delphi and Delphi to Meteora- take train back to Athens.

I loved Delphi and loved staying overnight and seeing the ruins empty of most tourists was surreal. Even heard the Oracle!

If you have two days you could do:
Day 1: Athens – Livadia – Delphi – Kalambaka
Day 2: Kalambaka – Meteora – Thermopylae – Athens

Maybe you "could" but you wouldn't see much. Athens - Delphi - Meteora - Athens makes infinitely more sense unless the OP has more than two days
