Athens short layover
Not finding anything really recent posted here so ... I'm flying into Athens - arrival 10:50 am - from Atlanta (Delta) with a 3 hour 40 minute lay over, then EgyptAir to Cairo. I've heard that my luggage should go straight through and I won't have to claim/re-check. Should work out well to grab some lunch at the airport - any suggestions for a good place to eat/airport lay out? I'm learning some Arabic for the Egypt trip - can I get away with being the arrogant American who can't speak the language at Athens airport?
Please excuse my ignorance - I've never flown internationally before. Thanks in advance for any help! Terri |
English is commonly spoken amongst airport personnel. Arrogance is commonly detested.

So - my lack of the local language would not be considered annoying (or arrogant)? Whenever I travel, whether in the US or outside of the country, I am always aware of the "message" I may be sending regarding where I am from. Besides, my parents taught me to be polite wherever I go and it's a message I've remembered well for more than 40 years! Remembering that lesson has made traveling infinently more enjoyable over the years!

For me as well.........
Learn a few common phrases: Hello, goodbye, thank you, etc. and you'll be fine. |
That's the plan - almost got those important - and polite - phrases down!
Anyone have a good suggestion on where to grab a bite to eat in/near the Athens airport? If my flight is on time into Athens, I'd at least like to take a stroll around during the three hours I'll be there after an 11-hour flight! Thanks, T |
