Athens in September

We are planning a pre-cruise stay in Athens at the end of September. By this time we hope most of the Olympic crowd has thinned out. Our assumption is right? We have inquired about rooms and they seem readily available. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

I don't think you'll have any problem at the end of September. The city will be pretty much back to normal by then. You might, however, run into some short-tempered and impatient locals who've had their fill and then some of all the tourist activity for the season. Please understand and don't take it personally.

Stay at Hotel Grande Bretagne, it really is fantastic!

Hi there! We just booked a four night stay in Athens before we go to Cairo September 19-23 with no problems. It looks like many of the hotels have rooms, and are reasonably priced.

To CWanderer,

Where are you staying in Athens and what price? On our list is the GB, Electra Palace, Xenos Lycabettus, and Divani Acropolis. Thanks.

Yep staying in athens at the Saint George Lyabettus Hotel. We booked the Superior Twin (two people) for 180 euros. They also have the Standard twin for two people at 160 euros. Their web iste is very nice and easy to use to check prices.
