Athens Hotel

What is the good/modern hotel in Athens with convenient location to Acropolis? I am leaning twards Athenian Collarhoe hotel. Has anyone stayed there?

I did extensive research before booking a hotel for our visit. I also read all of the reviews on tripadvisor. I was looking for clean, convenient and reasonably priced. There are so many budget hotels but I wanted a mid priced one so I narrowed it down to two hotels The Plaka and The Amazon. They are both adjacent to the Plaka, get good reviews for cleanliness etc. We decided on the Amazon. http://www.amazonhotel.gr/

We be there in their peak season so it is 112 euros including taxes and breakfast. I wanted to be by Acropolis as well so we could wander around when we felt like it so this is the perfect spot.

Last year, we stayed at the Esperia Palace hotel, which was great. It was adjacent to Syntagma Square and within walking distance of everything. Nice, clean rooms, modern bathrooms, excellent breakfast and the service was very good. I'd stay there again for sure.

We've stayed in Athens many times at various hotels, but this was the best by far. Great views too!

They've upgraded most hotels when preparing for the Olympics, so chances are, you'll find many good options. You'll find more budget options within the Ommonia Square area, but this area is slightly dodgier at night. I'd try to stay nearer to Syntagma Square if possible, it's a great, central location.

Try the ''Herodion Hotel ''with its magnificent Acropolis view from rooms and its roof-garden.

A very nice hotel that is a short stroll to the entrance of the Acropolis is the Royal Olympic. I stayed here in 1998, but it was remodeled for the 2004 Olympic Games.

The hotel has a swimming pool, which is a BIG plus. You can easily walk to the Plaka, Syntagma Sq., and Kolonaki.

I was in Athens this past July and stayed at the Intercontinental, but it was such a drag to have to take the shuttle back and forth to Syntagma Sq. I should have stayed at the Royal Olympic.

We like to stay at the St George lycabettus http://www.sglycabettus.gr/
It is up on the hill with an amazing view of the city and nice rooftop pool. The Kolonaki area has alot of restaurants and shopping and you can walk to some areas and taxi or shuttle to other. I just love the view. Its great sitting out on the balcony and seeing the city

We enjoyed the Electra Palace in the heart of the Plaka. It's a modern, upscale luxury hotel...very comfy and a good location.

Here's the view from the roof terrace:

If it fits your budget the Hotel Grande Bretagne is great location and very plush....but VERY expensive.

I agree with Reisender about the Hotel Grande Bretagne

Also going to add the King George Palace which I found to be a great hotel.

Along with the poster above we also enjoyed the Electra Palace and would happily return there.

Hi,
Wife and I are just got back from a three week tour of Greece and Istanbul.

We stayed in Athens for about 6 nights over two weeks and we were booked in Hotel Athens Cypria, just off Ermou, 3 minutes from Syntagma and 6 odd minutes away from Plaka and Monastriki.

The rooms were o.k .Clean but charecterless. The staff were very helpful. The location is great.so i would perhaps stay there again.

The tariff was about 120 Euros/room night i think excluding breakfast (we got a great deal b'cos we had booked thru' a travel agent).

Cheers

Has anyone had experience with either the Hotel Acropolis House or Hotel Acropolis View, in Athens?
Thanks.

Summer 07 we stayed at the Jason Prime Hotel which was just a few blocks from the Syntagma station when arriving in Athens. It was recommended by a travel agent based out of Sifnos. I thought it was a great little hotel that was comfy but nothing over the top. It was a tad noisy outside until about 3am with the locals out and about but nothing that would keep you from sleeping (especially after a 16 hour flight)as long as you left the patio door closed. There are a couple of neat little cafes between the hotel and the train station. Take a walk around the area and see the local color.

We just booked 4 nights at the Jason Prime hotel as they had rooms available.I read reviews on trip advisor and it is mixed. Most liked the hotel a lot but not the surroundings.Mckeeby, u said u stayed there last summer. Can u give me some pointers on how to get there by metro from the airport. Is it easy to find? Thanks for your help.
