Athens hotel, 1 night near Acropolis
We will be in Athens one night at the end of an island hopping tour in September We have a half day, enough time to see the Acropolis and wander in Plaka. We would like a nice clean hotel, nothing real fancy at about $200 a night that will be central to both the Acropolis and Plaka.....any suggestions?

The Herodion Hotel is quite close to the Acropolis and New Acropolis Museum. It's a great hotel and rig around the corner from lithe Plaka. We liked it better than the Plaka hotel we stayed in twice previously (hotel Adrian).

A few hotels that are located near to the Acropolis are:
Athens Gate, Philippos, Herodion ( Philippos's sister hotel), Divani Acropolis, Parthenon and the Athenian Calirrhoe.
All these hotels are near to the New Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis, and also to the southern entrance to the Plaka.

They certainly ARE central to the Acropolis AND the Plaka, as requested, just in a different location, and as I'm sure you know the Monastiraki area is just as convenient for public transportation as those hotels you suggested, and the hotels I suggested are even closer to the Plaka.

Electra Palace Hotel Athens is within walking distance from most of Athens' main attractions. Syntagma Square is less than a 5 minute walk away and the parliament and shopping districts are nearby.Electra Palace Hotel's rooftop has a lovely pool area and a restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant's terrace looks directly to the Acropolis. The distance from the Acropolis is 10 minutes walk and is in great safe location in the center of Plaka

We just stayed at Hotel Plaka and loved it. Same situation as you... We only had a half day in Athens, so this hotel was the perfect location to explore the acropolis and Plaka. Great rooftop deck too. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. Should be in your price range too. Check out reviews on Trip Advisor. I'm sure you will love Athens... Enjoy!

Hi Seafox
I have stayed at the Airotel Parthenon which is located very near the Acropolis and the museum which is worth the visit. The hotel is basic but comfortable and I've always been happy with the service. I've paid via booking.com around 100 euro for times around June/July.It's near a metro stop and close to the Plaka district.
