Athens Hilton or Grand Bretagne

I have enough points for a free 5 night stay at either the Athens Hilton or Grand Bretagne. Both get great reviews on tripadvisor. I've got status in both loyalty programs, so an upgrade is possible. I'm leaning towards the Athens Hilton as I like the minimalistic style. The Grand Bretagne seems a bit oppulent for our tastes. Am I missing anything spectacular by not staying at the Grand Bretagne?

Many thanks.

Location, location, location!

The Grande Bretagne is much more centrally located.

If you are Gold with Hilton, you should get a room on the executive floor, which gives you access to the lounge for breakfast as well as complimentary evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. I don't think that there is a lounge at the Grand Bretagne. As others have said, the Grand Bretagne is more centrally located, but there is a metro stop across the highway from the Hilton where you can easily and cheaply get to most any place you want to go.

The Grand Bretagne is a beauitful old world hotel with some history. The location is the best. The Hilton is a big modern hotel and having stayed there many times I'd go with Grand Bretagne where I've stayed only once. I'd stay at The Hilton when I had to go to the Embassy. The Hilton has impressive reception areas and is comfortable. The Grand to me is Grand. My daughter stays there when she travels with her family.

You might want to consider the difference in views from the Hilton vs. the GB

Another vote for the Grand Bretagne. And their rooftop restaurant has beautiful views (and excellent food as well.)
