Athens Beachfront Restaurant

We were in Athens several years ago and had dinner one night at a waterfront restaurant where the tables were set up directly on the beach. I remember it was in the Paliofalio(phonetic) area next to a boatyard or dealer going south toward Sunion Pen., I think in the general area of the old airport. We're going back to Athens in three weeks and would like to try it again but have no idea what it is named.

Is anyone familiar with the place and have any idea what the name of it is?

Does Athens have a beach??

Dcdee must be talking about some suburb.

There's a beach in Glyfada which is a suburb of Athens, much like Palio Faliro is. There are several beaches.

Travelerjan, take the bus from Piraeus to Athens Airport and you will pass miles of beaches and marinas. The old Hellenikon Airport is in that area.

Dcdee, good luck in finding your restaurant - there must be many along that stretch of road.

Do you remeber a hotel in the area?
A Best Western or London Hotel?
Did you have greek or american food? (Lots of americans live in this area)
Did you see the old airport or the Golf Club?

Sorry, Gaspard, I don't remember-- just that we rode for ten-fifteen minutes outside downtown and past a number of apartments in the Palio Faliro area until arriving at a low building with tables directly on the beach next to a boatyard and with a view across toward Pireas. The restaurant had a menu in English but no one spoke English except one young waiter with limited English. The food was Greek and fresh fish.

I realize this is probably like asking if anyone can identify a restaurant in Rome that serves Italian food.

I suggest to take the tram from Neo Faliro all along the coast (Poseidonos Avenue) to Kolimvitirio in Glifada. You will recognize the area you are looking for or not. But anyway it is a beautififul ride. Pay attention and this stops: Edem, "Marina Alimou", Kalamaki, Zefiros.
