Athens airport hotel
I know this has been asked a dozen times before. The answers, however, vary in quality
We have a very early flight out of Athens on Sunday. I know a couple of plces to stay in central Athens. Does anyone, however, know of anywhere affordable (less than E100 per night for 2 in a double) near the airport?
Incidentally, I'm posting from Chania in Crete, where the weather is wonderful and the break is even better

Sheila, the last I heard, the only hotel close to the airport is the Sofitel, which is about 200 euros a night.
I found a posting on alt.travel.greece which mentions a hotel that's supposed to be 15 minutes by taxi from the airport, but it doesn't even give a name, just a phone number - (30) 2299086400. Maybe you could check it out.

Sheila...I was having the same problem. How early is your flight? I couldn't find anything (granted, I didn't look extra hard) except for the Sofitel, and my flight to Paris was out of Athens as well. I decided to make a connection instead (plus I'd rather stay an extra night on an Island instead of near the Athens airport!), so I changed my flight on Olympic to fly out of the islands and connect through to Paris via Athens. The cost was only $39 more.
Flights out of Crete are 50 minutes, and there are a quite a few of them. If your flight is that early, I guess it would be tough. Might be worth looking into though.
I am on Santorini, and yes, the weather is great! Ain't life grand?
