Athens airport ground transportation
I will be arriving at the Athens Airport in September. I was going to take Metro Line 3 to Syntagma Station but I heard they were working on the line and there was an alternate route planned. Can someone give me the current information on transportation connections from the Airport to central Athens?

I am sure someone else will give a more complete answer. We will be there in early October and we directions for using the bus. The train has been out of operation for sometime and the only public option is the bus/

The Athens Metro website has a handy journey planner where you can put in your start and end points and it will map out which alternate routes to take. It does look like you will need to transfer from the Suburban Railroad to the metro line 1 and then another transfer to line 2.

The easiest and most direct method is to take the Airport Express Bus X95 from outside the Arrivals Hall Door #5 into Central Athens. The last stop is Syntagma Square. Buy your ticket at the kiosk outside Door #5 and validate it in the ticket machine inside the bus. Because the Metro isn't running they've added extra buses during the day so now there's one leaving approximately every 20 minutes. Depending on surface street traffic, the trip will take between 45-90 minutes to reach Syntagma. The fare is 3.2 euro per person. There is ample storage space inside the bus for your luggage.

The metro from the airport is supposed to re-open 27th or 28th August, which means you should have the choice of that or the bus by the time you come. Check whether the opening has gone according to plan before you leave!
