tcreath...I got good information from your trip report. You were the reason we changed our car drop off to Foligno instead of Perugia. After our experience with Spoleto...all I can say is phew!!! Thank god. My husband was a little rusty driving a stick and it was quite terrifying driving in a busy town like Spoleto. Perugia I guess is even more confusing and busy.
We loved Umbria...I'm sure we were the only tourists in Trevi that day...or so it felt. It was charming as were all the towns we visited (except Spoleto which we did not bond with).
michlvis...September is a lovely time to travel to Italy. I grappled with Spring or Fall. I usually travel in the Fall but thought it might be nice to see the wild flowers for a change. In the fall you have the yellow hues, the grape harvest, truffles and usually milder temperatures. Enjoy!!...I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip.

I'm so glad our suggestion worked! Foligno appeared to be much easier to navigate than Peruguia, which looked downright scary to DH!
We didn't jive with Spoleto either. It just didn't seem very attractive, especially after visiting so many wonderful hill towns.

SRS...I have not had much lucks with the links in the past. If you click on my name though..my trip report is titled Tuscany and Umbria 2006. It is a tad long...and not funny like some on the board I'm afraid but I hope there are a few useful tidbids of info. It was my first one so perhaps next time I'll do better.

These pics are just wonderful - thanks for reminding me why I keep going back and back. I was tickled to see you had a pic of the Hotel Pallotta in Assisi where I will be staying in Oct. I was also swooning over the pics of Monticchiello. You so captured the beauty and pure tranquility of that special little town.

Wonderful pictures Crazy. We are so happy to see the ones of Montepulciano as we are going to stay there in September and are always searching for any pictures. Loved the cat in the pot of flowers.

Oh CRAZY4TRAVEL, your photos are breathtaking. They remind me that Italy is as beautiful as it is in my mind when I get "homesick".
And it looks like you two enjoy all the potted plants with flowers as much as I do! Such an abudance of flowers. And the photos of the various pups and the kitties, they are so precious.
Thank you so very much for sharing your photos, I have spent the last hour enjoying them and imagining myself back in Italy.
I wish you two (who are a darling couple btw) many more lovely trips. Best regards.

Thank you for sharing my memories everyone.
SRS - Thanks for the link. I always end up with one a mile long that doesn't seem to work
LoveItaly - your screen name says it all...me too..I also feel at home there.
micheline - Montipulciano is an instantly likeable town...very charming.
CaitlinoO and 50initaly...September and October is a lovely time to travel.
Dave - Thank you!!
Barb - Assisi is a lovely town and staying overnight will be a wonderful experience as when the daytrippers leave you'll have the place to yourself. Monticchiello is one of the most untouristic and sweet towns that we've been. The streets were literally deserted as you see from the photos. I felt I was almost intruding by being there, although the owners of the La Porta restaurant were so very welcoming.
dorceforcemom...I still can't get those big panties out of my head. We left Halifax on May 16th so we were very close behind you.
Mari5 - I'm very happy with my camera. It is a Kodak Z740 with a 10x optical zoom. I am still learning how to use it as it has so many functions. I think I was one of the last hold outs for digital. No more spoiled photos!!

Hi Dick...Thank you...yes I do know and would be tickled if anyone thought they were good enough to buy. I could create a password and only give access to users of my chosing but I wanted anyone on the Fodor's site to be able to see them.
RSTravelers...I have given my husband your compliments and his head is growing bigger by the moment...just kidding. Thank you and best regards.
