Assisi - Possible Accomodations at a Franciscan Convent

I am traveling solo to Italy in October and would like to ask if anyone in this forum knows of a convent/religious house in Assisi that accepts overnight travelers. If not, can you recommend a reasonably priced/safe place for a female solo traveler to stay in Assisi? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

I can't comment on this place, not having stayed there, but it looks good.

I have the following sites:

I am afraid I cannot comment on these either. If you do get to go there, I look forward to your report.

Thank you for the information. I am so new to this and didn't realize that there were responses to my post. Again, thank you, I will contact these places to see if they can help me.

If staying in a convent does not work out for you in Assisi I recommend Hotel Umbra. It is quiet and has very nice rooms--overlooks a convent and garden. I don't know very much about the convent but it appeared to be a busy place with young nuns-to-be arriving daily. Hotel Umbra also has a nice roof top terrace.

Thanks for the information. I have made a reservation with the Hotel Rina. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? It looked charming.

I stayed at the St.Anthony's Guest house in Assisi. The sisters speak English and are very gracious. The location is very central and safe, overlooking St. Claires's Basilica.
The rate is extremely reasonable and the convent is immaculate. The breafast room is actually in the part of the convent remaining from the Middle Ages.

Here is the info:

SAINT ANTHONY GUEST HOUSE,
Via Galeazzo Alessi 10, 06081 Assisi.
Tel. 075..812.542; Fax: 075.813.723.
E-mail: [email protected].
Run by the American Atonement Sisters, this lovely retreat house also takes pilgrims and tourists, and overlooks the Basilica of St. Claire. They offer parking, a chapel, a library and a conference room. Rooms have private bath and breakfast is included. They charge 33 Euro for a single room, 53 Euro for a double room and 73 Euro for a triple room.
