Asolo area

We will be staying in Asolo for a couple of days next month, exploring the Veneto. One day we will be driving from Asolo to the Masi winery (at Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella). According to google maps the drive us just about 2 hours. We will be starting out in the morning and would like to make a stop somewhere to break up the drive. We will leave the hotel after breakfast, so it will be too early to stop for lunch.

Does anyone know of a cute small town we could stop and tour around on the way? Or an interesting museum or food-related stop?

Marostica is so close by Asolo it may be too close, but if you like cherries, you might want to make a pilgrimage. Marostica is also the place where the center of town is a huge chess board, and this weekend they are staging the historic chess game. But it looks fun to see even without the chess players

Most of the tourists go to Bassano al Grappa.
