Ask about Rick Steves’s DVD!
I would like to buy Rick’s DVD, but I don’t know the difference of these two boxsets
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...ance&s=dvd The first one is from his website. It includes the show from 2000-2004 (Total 43 shows, 6 discs). http://travelstore.ricksteves.com/ca...=15&id=275 The second is from Amazon.com – Rick’s the best travel in Europe (Total 6 Discs). Are both the same shows? Or the different shows? Which one I should buy? Thank you Happy travels…..from Thailand |
Go to RickSteves.com and see what you can figure out from there. They post the scripts of his shows.

You have your listings backwards.
The first one, on Amazon, is the older series from the 1990's and is selling for $23.99 The one on RS's website is a compilation of all shows from 2000-2004 (a 30-show dvd + a 13-show dvd), and includes the "Postcards" book. The package is selling for $69.95 (Amazon has the 30-show dvd for $79.99, so RS's package is the better deal of those). The RS package also includes the 3-part "Travel Skill" which is very handy for new travelers. I would say that you will pay more for the RS package but you will get far more, and it is comprised of more recent shows... |
Caution. Rick Steves troll-of-the-month. Why did Siam ask here and not at the official RS website? Duh? |
Maybe Siam asked here because of the desire to purchase through amazon.com and not throught the RS site!

It's a legitimate question. The older series is less expensive because it's older. Rick was definitly more of a nerd back then. I like his new shows much better. But the scenery hasn't changed much and the price difference is significant. I recently purchased the older set and I'm enjoying watching it whenever I want. My local PBS is very erratic about when they run his shows so I don't see the new ones very often.
