For people in the US, here is the UNICEF site for the US and it will take you directly to the Tsunami Disaster. Click on the PINK box to the right - where it says "Donate" and you can make your donation right away.

Cross-referencing to this thread just in case the list posted from the New York Times has any contact information that may work better: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34547858

For people in the U.S., please be sure to check with your HR department to see if your company has a Matching Gift program and if the organization to which you donated is eligible. This can double, triple or even quadruple your gift.
Here's a link to Chatter's thread with lists of NGOs working to help the victims:

www.cnn.com has a list of links to many relief organizations - all seem reputable. www.give.org provides valuable information about charities, and each charity's website should have a copy of their annual report or other information that provides what % of their monies go to charity, and not administration and fund-raising.
Also, beware of people soliciting for the tsunamis by phone (apparently, phone solicitation is a huge fund-raising cost) and door-to-door (crooks and cheats). Finally, the President said today that relief efforts are not at the stage where people need to send clothes and blankets - cash is the best assistance now, to reputable relief organizations.
May God be with them.

Hi
www.nightly.msnbc.com
also has a long list
I don't know if this is still mentioned at that website, but the other day along with the relief organizations, it was mentioned that people in Haiti and even in Florida are still homeless due to Hurricane Jeanne months ago.
I'm not suggesting that some vicitims are more or less important, or more or less in need, just that perhaps we can dig deeper and give to help even more people.
'Tis the season...

I found this at flyertalk:
FlyerTalk Cares was activated immediately after the events of 9/11, and just as in the past, FlyerTalk and InsideFlyer Magazine will cover the processing fees associated with credit card donations. This will ensure that 100 percent of your donation goes to this charity choice. We will also track the level of donations and post the amounts received online.
Please join me in making a difference in the lives of those affected by this devastation.

For People in the UK
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) is an umbrella group of UK charities including, amongst others, British Red Cross, Cafod, Oxfam, Save the Children, Tearfund
Call them on 0870 60 60 900 or visit www.dec.org.uk
£50 will buy a new house for someone.
Do you really need ANOTHER pair of shoes or a bargain Jumper from the Xmas sales? I don't think so. Spend the money here NOT at the Sales.

I opted to donate to Medecins Sans Frontieres - but I'm sure a donation to any of the organisations listed will help efforts in all the affected areas.
I did opt not to limit MSF to using my donation only for the SE Asia crisis as I didn't know if the current crisis would lead to their funds for other urgent work dropping. I figured they'd be best able to put incoming funds to the best use without my limiting it.
