Ash closes irish airspace, again :(
I just read this on a Dutch Site then found this on the BBC:

Hey, I was just checking departures to Dublin from Gatwick as my wife is landing about now from Gatwick & I noticed a few are cancelled tomorrow morning. Now I know why. Thanks

Oh, bloody hell... I think I just had a little PTSD episode.
|
Me too Seamus, my trip to Bulgaria was canceled the last time and I am hoping to go to London this weekend.

Irish airspace is opening at 1pm but there are warnings that there could be further closures during the week as the winds are in a northerly direction. A spokesman said this could continue throughout the summer.
Apparently there has been increased activity at the volcano during the past week and it is now pushing out very dense dark ash. I hope this increased activity doesn't awaken the much more dangerous volcano Katla. |
Yes, it will be back to the roads, rails & seas then for all of us if that one goes up

Irish and Scottish airspace has re-opened but the Met Office has warned that Northern Britain and Ireland remain vulnerable over the next few days with further possible closures.

After the initial trauma of having to rearrange our flight back home last month, we enjoyed our extra few days in Ireland. My husband is ready to go back and take our chances of getting stuck there again. It was a lot more stressful for others who might not have had such a great place to stay (thank you again, Penny O'Connor at Dunaree in Bunratty) or the funds to stay a few extra days. I feel for people who have trips planned, the uncertainty is the pits.

Another day and more ash. Irish and Scottish airspace is closed at various times throughout today. The cloud could also affect Northern England later this afternoon. Looks like this is going to be a 'Summer of Disruption' for air travel in Europe.
