Ascoli Piceno:Help With Itinerary
We will be spending three days in Ascoli Piceno before driving down to Trani for the start of our 12 days in Puglia.Ascoli Piceno reads like a lovely town, but I have not been able to find much about the surrounding area, and would appreciate information and suggestions from anyone who has been there,or is planning a trip.

Take a look at the Le Marche Voyager website.

Thanks,Seppole.Le Marche Voyager provides lots of useful touring information.Any ideas for finding interesting restaurants serving local specialties ??

You can search Chowhound or consult Fred Plotkin's Italy for the Gourmet Traveler and the Slow Food guide, called Osterie d'Italia.
Local specialty is one I don't happen to like -- meat-stuffed fried olives, but others adore them. Favorite spot of mine was Meletti, which makes an anisette liquer that is psychedelic. Split it with somebody if your tolerance for spirits is low. |
Thanks so much, zeppole.I have read about these olives......and will of course try them.I did not know about OSTERIA ,d'talia, and will try to locate a copy.i do have a copy of Fred Plotkin's book.Again, many thanks for your very helpful comments.

In Ascoli itself my Osterie guide (the English version, so a few years old by now) lists 3 restaurants:
