I was in Spain during the first week of October 2006... Barcelona was hot and humid, and even San Sebastian was warm enough to hit the beach in a bathing suit. The evenings were sometimes cool enough for a light sweater. I'd definitely pack some warm-weather clothes!

As a 60 something who did the grand tour of Spain a few years back, one week doesn't come close to enough time. Barcelona to Madrid via car, bus or train and spend the rest of the time enjoying these two very different cities. Do a half day bus tour to see what you want to go back to and spend the rest of the time enjoying those things at a civilized pace. And be sure to visit a lot of tapas bars.

Hi, I'll be touring Spain, very much along the same routes as KC1 but in early May. You've helped me make the same decision about whether to go Granada cordoba Seville or Granada, Seville, Cordoba onthe way back to Madrid. Thank you all - except there's one twist.

I see that Granada and Malaga are not that far from Gibraltar, so I thought I'd take a bus from Granada to Malaga to Linea Concepcion where you cross over to Gibraltar, just for the day.

The only problem now is I can't quite figure out how to get back on track to go from Gibraltar to Seville.

Apparently Malaga is a major thoroughfare/byway and would I have to take a bus back to Malaga to catch one for Seville?

Does anyone have knowledge of a better way than doubling back to Malaga?

(I really don't want to rent a car}
and drive in an unknown country on unkown roads).

by the way, the posters on these Europe forums have helped me so much, hotels, restaurants, best ways to travel - thank you all.

We came down last late October from France into Spain and it was hot and sunny as soon as we hit Spain. We were in sleeveless tops and shorts and swimming in southern Spain most of November.

I did hear that it was warmer than usual.In fact the whole winter has been mostly warm and sunny in our micro-climate here in Andalucia.

BUT I think the worst of the hot,hot,hot weather is over by October.

Mahya - after reading several guidebooks, they don't recommend Gibralter at all. They say it is just a charmless buracracy.

I don't want to tell you what to do and maybe you have other reasons to go there, I just wanted to let you know what I've read!
