Artificial sweetener in England

This may sound like a dumb question but I will be in England soon and I wanted to know if I had to bring my own artificial sweetener for coffee and tea?

Sweeteners are widely available in the UK, in supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Even your hotle will have low calorie sweeteners available on the in-room tea'coffee tray. You won't have any problem.

Nope, available everywhere.

Except, kamirob, I couldn't get Splenda at the Starbucks or the Costa Cafes. I always bring my own Splenda when I travel to England. They do have Sweet 'n Low, and some sweetener in a yellow package (that might be a Splenda-equivalent), but it doesn't taste the same to me. Or if you like Equal, I didn't see that either. If you're picky like me, I'd bring your own.

Mickey D had splenda.

Don't bring your own. If you want Splenda, you can get it in supermarkets. Boots sell it too

THere is a famous artificial sweetener in UK - ask for it by name "David Cameron"

Heimdall Oct 5th, 2013 07:33 AM

Kamirob, you can get artificial sweeteners in the UK, but not every hotel and restaurant will necessarily have the brand you prefer. I like Equal, and those little Equal tablet dispensers are so small they will fit easily in a pocket or handbag. If your favourite brand has something like that, there is no reason not to bring it with you.

Since Splenda is a British invention (Tate & Lyle), I would be amazed if it were not available in the UK.
However as Heimdall says the dispensers are so small you can easily bring your own favourite variety with you.

khunwilko - lol!

I find it easier to buy Splenda dispensers in UK supermarkets than in the US. It is one of the few things we always bring back or ask friends to bring.
