Hi Judy,

It is rather early to book a Eurostar for the end of May, 2008.

Check Tim's prices, are your's about the same?

If you buy a RT ticket, you just don't use the return part.

Before you do business with Euro Railways, I suggest you learn the lesson I learned too late. Call thier customer service number and try to get through to them. They were great about answering email questions before I placed my order, but after the order had been placed, and you need to get ahold of them.............no emails were answered for over a week until it was too late, and 20 phone mail messages over a week were never returned.

If your luggage isn't too heavy, fly Easyjet, Ryan Air, or Air Europe. If you really want to do the train, book with Rail Europe.

By the way, we are doing the same thing - but our cruise is out of Barcelona.

I wish now I would have booked with Rail Europe.

Ira, my personality wants to do things NOW and mark it off my list. I need patience (and faith) that something better is coming down the pike. I'll hold off on Eurostar and keep checking fares periodially. Think Tim's and mine were about the same if used lowest fares shown. My dates were Jan--his were April. Thanks.

Coyote, you and kybourbon both have cautioned me re Euro Rail. Sorry you are having probems with them. They're officially off my short list. Barcelona will be a great cruise too. What are your sailing dates? Ours are June 3-15 in and out of port of Civitavecchia--closest to Rome.

I find it confusing that you mention Euro Railways (never heard of it) but then give links for RailEurope and Eurostar (not Euro Railways). Is there a company you are considering called Euro Railways? Eurostar.com is the official site for the Eurostar train between London/Paris and has nothing to do with Eurostar in Italy. RailEurope is essentially a travel agency that makes money by charging a mark-up on the same tickets you can purchase directly yourself without mark-ups from Eurostar, Scnf, Trenitalia. Why you would want to pay additional fees ($18 booking and maybe another $18 mailing) is what we don't understand.
