Arriving in Venice on a late flight

We are flying into Venice Marco Polo Airport in September arriving at 0025 . I am wondering if for the first night we might be better staying near the Airport to save the hassle of getting into San Marco very late. Love some advice on transport available at that time of night . We have been to Venice before but always arrived in daylight hours
Many thanks in advance.

Trumps ? In Venice stay at the airport, lots of immigrants in Venice. Total disaster.

There are tons of hotels less than 1 mile from the airport. Have a look at http://www.booking.com/ and check the opening hrs of the reception desks.

Thanks for your responses. WoinParis we are spending 8 days in Venice in an Apartment so it would only be 1 night at the Airport because of the late arrival.

I think it's a good idea to stay at an airport hotel. You're going to be wiped out, and probably in no mood or condition to navigate your way to a hotel in the city.

I've stayed at the Best Western Titian Inn and can recommend it. There's nothing fancy about it, but the rooms are clean, modern and spacious; the staff is helpful; and they have a good free breakfast. Free shuttle from the airport to the hotel.

Also, you'll want a plan for getting to the city, and the hotel is near a stop for a bus that will take you into Venice (about 2 euros, I think).
