Scarlett, No my younger probaly won't try it unless I lie to her and tell her that they are chicken wings then i take the chance of her spitting them out disgustingly on her plate when I tell her what it really was then she'll get super mad at me and then she'll cry hysterically and that would be very embarassing for me, so it might not be worth it. That's why the older one is my favorite, (no I'm only kidding).

I've been in Paris over Easter the last four years. The Louvre and d'Orsay are both open and quite crowded.

If you are interested in visiting Monet's house and gardens in Giverny, Easter Monday is one of the only Mondays that it is open; it is normally closed on Monday.

Based on my experience of having been in Paris during other holidays (not Easter), I would say that Luxembourg Gardens and other parks indeed will be active with Parisian families on Easter Sunday.

I will also be in Paris during the Passover and Easter holidays. Someone a few postings back mentioned that many places are open in the 3rd (which has a sizeable Jewish population)- because it is also Passover, I wondered if Jewish owneed restaurants would be open...Kosher bakeries are generally closed during this period. I would assume this is the same in Paris...?

I'm gonna just go around those days and get the lay of the land those days, there will have to be stuff open, it's a city and the city really never closes. I live vclose to NYC and you can go in the city on any day and there is always somethin open.

I had not realized the 16th would be Easter Sunday and I had planned on Versailles - which will be the only Sunday I'll be in Paris. Will it be open on Easter Sunday?

I just looked up Versailles + Easter, answering my own question and for whoever else wants to know:

"The Great Music Water Show 2005 ("les grandes Eaux Musicales", fontains of the Versailles Gardens) : every Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays, from March 26th until September 25th 2005.

Open on those public holidays : Easter, Easter Monday, 8 May, Ascension Day, Whitsuntide, Whit Monday, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November "

We'll be arriving in Paris on Easter Sunday ~ 7:30 am. The plan is to drop off our suitcases and check in (we're staying in the latin qtr).

Is it too ambitious to hit the lourve on the 1st day? I'm trying to take advantage of the holiday, since I'm guessing many of the popular sites will be less crowded.

The other option is to go to Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Musee d'Orsay and stroll through Ile St. Louis.

For most activities, Easter is absolutely not a holiday -- it is just a Sunday, when a lot of things are closed anyway. It is Monday that is a holiday and when things will be closed. Except in Alsace-Moselle, of course, which has different laws and where Good Friday is the holiday and Easter Monday a working day.
