Arriving in Paris on a Sunday afternoon. .
 

My husband and I will be arriving in Paris on Sunday afternoon around 4 pm -- I know by then many museums will be near closing time, and most shops will not be open either. Any suggestions of some nice walks that we could take before a later dinner? We were in Paris last summer for a week and are staying in the 7th again near Rue Cler.

I would just walk out the door of the hotel and start walking! Check out the neighborhood,wander.You will be tired and that won't be too much,then dinner.Where are you staying? What restaurants are you planning on going to?<BR>Living vicariously~C

Beth:<BR><BR>The park which is between Les Invalides and the Seine should be full of people on a Sunday afternoon (provided the weather is decent). You could buy a bottle of wine, some cheese and bread and have a wonderful picnic, or just people watch in the park then find a great cafe in which to sit. Or you could walk along the Seine then find a cafe . . . or you could just find a cafe and people watch! Whatever you do, you'll be in Paris!<BR><BR>Have fun!

Notre Dame sometimes has organ/choir recitals around 5pm, so I'd head there, then along the quais to the western end of the isle, up the other side to Ile St Louis. Sunset over the river is really pretty.<BR><BR>As an alternative, you could take one of the Seine boats for a leisurely cruise (Vedettes' departure is near the Eiffel Tower; Bateaux Mouches is across the bridge).

I just returned from Paris and found Sunday to be a good day to do a lot of things. To my surprise, there was a lot of activity in the Marais area (4th Arr) around the Gay, Jewish and Place de Vosges areas. All the shops were open and people were everywhere at cafes, restaurants and on the streets. Remember, Sunday is not a religious day in the Jewish area! <BR><BR>The main areas where I found all the activity were along the rue de Vieille Temple/rue St Crois de Bretonnerie (gay area with cafes, shops, fun), rue des Rosiers (Jewish area with great pastries) and rue Francs Bourgeois (shops, museums and Place des Vosges).<BR><BR>One tip... A lot of restaurants are not open on Sundays. Find one that is open and ask your hotel to book in advance. I recommend the "Le Vieux Bistro" at 14 rur de Cloitre Notre Dame next to Notre Dame. This will be a good introduction to Bistro Dining in Paris. I am sure if you eMail your hotel that they will make a reservation for you.<BR><BR>Have fun! <BR><BR>P.S. Thanks for all the good advice. We're staying at the Hotel Muguet, as we did last June -- I'm really excited to be returning to Paris.
