Arriving Edinburgh late evening: Should I stay near airport or head straight into the city?

I'll be taking a flight on EasyJet from Amsterdam arriving in Edinburgh at 22:05 on Tues (5 June).

Since it's quite late, should I just check into a hotel near the airport for the night or it is still reasonable to head into the city straight away?

I'll be travelling with 2 other friends (all ladies) and we're spending 2 days in Edinburgh.

If near airport, any suggestion on a budget accommodation?

Thanks for your help!

The bus runs every 10 minutes until 12:22am. You can easily go to city center. Only 25 minutes ride.

When we were in Edinburgh, we found the airport bus very convenient. I would go directly to a hotel in the city center. I figure every time we change hotels, we loose nearly half a day.

In many other cities I would stay near the airport when landing that late. But not at Edinburgh. The Airport bus is quick and cheap, and it will barely be dark by the time you get your luggage and transfer in to town.

Agree that you should head into the city. No reason to hang around near the airport! And it will still be quite light at 10pm, as Janisj says.

I definitely agree with the others, go straight to your hotel in the city.

Agree - go straight into town. It won't be dark until about 23:00 (I think). The days are so much longer in Summer than most of North America becuase it is so much further north
