Arriving At Charles De Gaulle Airport late at night

Hello,

I'm arriving at Charles De Gaulle around 11 p.m. and am afraid the buses, shuttles, and train will be closed by the time I clear customs. I'm open to taking the night buses, but I'm having a hard time determining where the bus stops are in relation to any decent budget hotels. I'd like to avoid paying exorbitant prices for an airport hotel. I was looking at several places near the republique metro stop, but I'm not sure it is safe to walk from l' gare de est to there at night. Basically I'm looking for a place to stay that is under 80 euros and is a hop, skip, and a jump from one of the noctilien stops. Many thanks!

From where are you arriving? That makes a huge difference in the time it will take to clear formalities or pick up baggage. I don't know of any jumbo jets that arrive at 11 pm, and all of the small planes arriving go extremely quickly.

Unfortunately, the last RER from CDG does indeed leave at about 22:55 so you are out of luck for the train.

However, at 00:12, you can take the Noctilien night bus line N143 from CDG2 to Gare de l'Est. République is an easy walk from there and completely safe. If you happen to be traveling on a Friday or Saturday, the metro runs until 02:00 on those days. There are also numerous hotels in the Gare de l'Est-Gare du Nord area that cost less than 80€. Go to www.pagesjaunes.fr (the yellow pages) and type in "hotels" for "Paris 10" which is the arrondissement where those two stations are located -- all of the websites for the various hotels will appear. And then there are all of the hotels without websites, even cheaper. Just for drill, if you are looking for really cheap (but rustic), you can find hotels starting at about 25€ in the outer arrondissements.
