>>Most apts allow you to drop bags off.<<

IME some apartments allow one to leave bags -- but certainly not most. Very often there is a specific window of time when one can check in/leave bags. Usually there is an off-property owner or manager so they aren't necessarily just there waiting for one to drop by. What w/ late flights and all -- not being able to drop bags is pretty common.

janisj - guess I as well as my friends have very different experiences than you and are just lucky. One must arrange in advance an approximate time to leave bags, and then text/call upon arrival at the airport, train station etc. It's always made clear that you can't "check in" just leave bags. Hopefully my luck with apts continues. Be it "some" or "most" my point is that it's not a penalty of choosing to stay in an apt.

My experience with airbnb is that if it was just part of someone's home, they would let you drop things off, but their other guests might not be checking out until noon, so no access to your room.

With an apartment, if other guests were not checking out until noon, there was no place to leave bags before then, and no one to leave them with even then, until the owner or cleaning person arrived with a key. Not a big problem, but different than a hotel.

Well, I frequent several Paris travel forums and I 'often' see people with the predicamentof not being able to drop off their luggage at an apartment until later in the day. And the same when leaving on an afternoon flight and have to be out of the apt by 11:00 ish.

It's a common dilemma / issue that is brought up.

You must be very lucky that noone has ever stayed in the same apartment the night before !! And that noone has stayed there the day you left !! Hope your luck continues...
