Last year we spent about 5 days based in Mainz. We took a half day cruise along the Rhine and went on a few day trips before moving on to Amsterdam.

Melng8,

Only the first 2 photos are from Mainz.

My wife had been mentioning for a few years about going on a river cruise. I took a little ride along the Rhine via Google Maps and realized that other than a couple of hours it was all pretty flat, marshy and not very interesting.

So we based in Mainz, took a 3 hour cruise along the Rhine and worked our way back by train making stops in a few towns.

We also went on day trips to Worms (very interesting), Heidelberg (very nice), Koblenz (can';t win them all) and stopped in Weissbaden on the way back from Worms.

So the photos are a combination of places in that area.

Myer, there is one image that I do not recognize, the neorenaissance building between Marktkirche in Wiesbaden (sp ;-) ) and the cyclist. Where is that?

quokka,

Look at the left side of the photo of the church. You see 4 people sitting on a bench. The person on the far left is actually further behind. You also see a building in the background on the left edge of the photo.

Now look at the next photo. I assume that's the one you are asking about. On the right side you see the four people sitting on the bench and that building from the left edge of the previous photo is now in the center of this one.

Those two photos were taken 4 minutes apart.

Ah ok, you fooled me!
Proof that my attention span is far less than 4 minutes.

My family just started to talk a bit about a trip to Germany for Oktoberfest some year. This is a great source of inspiration to discover which other towns we might want to tack on to Munich. Thanks to all!
