Arezzo or Orvieto?

We're spending 7 days in Tuscany and are hoping to stay at Palazzo Leopoldo (highly recommended) in Radda in Chianti for 3 nights. We would also like to stay in another area of Tuscany. Do you have recommendations? We love small towns that we can wander through (not too small). We will rent a car either in Arezzo or Orvieto (or where you might suggest. We have previously visited Siena and San Gim.
Thanks

The best part of Tuscany, IMHO, is the S-146 corridor from Montepulciano to Montalcino. Both Pienza and San Quirico are on that route. I would pick www.palazzodelcapitano.com from among several good places to stay in that region. Also look at www.letraverse.it if you want a rural experience. Good luck !

We just spent four nights at the Palazzo Piccolomini in Orvieto in April, and took a side trip to Arezzo. I, personally, really enjoyed Orvieto and would probably opt to stay there again, rather than trying to find something in Arezzo, though Arezzo seemed very pleasant.

if you DO stay in arezzo, the AC 10 hotel is on edge of town, easy to park at and find, and very upscale modern zen type decoration.Fabulous beds and pillows.

this chain also exists in spain and is very very nice. great breakfast.
the best rates are sometimes on www.bancotel.com, or www.gtahotels.com

www.ac-hotels.com.
some of their hotels have free mini-bars, or free coffee shops open during off hours. others have water and apples in the hallways for you to pick up on your way to room.
