Arezzo antiuqe market on Saturday?
 

I will be in the Arezzo area next May 31 and June 1. The antique market in Arezzo sounds very interesting. Does anyone know if the Saturday market is just as large as the Sunday version? Has anyone ever stayed in Arezzo or Chiusi? I want to go by train to the market because I have to turn my car in on Saturday. Thanks.<BR>Celia

I have only been on a Saturday and can't<BR>imagine that Sunday could be bigger. The<BR>entire city center was taken up with<BR>wonderful stuff. The best antique market in Italy in my opinion. Sorry<BR>but can't help with hotel suggestions<BR>but if you are a serious antique shopper<BR>you might want to stay the night before<BR>in Arezzo to get an early start.

Its exactly the same, better actually as their are less visitors...

As the Arezzo market is held the first weekend of each month, you might want to check to see if it will even be held on the dates you are visiting. I think it is the first FULL weekend in the month, meaning June 7 and 8, and your trip to Arezzo might be in vain should that be the case.

Definitely plan to go, it's wonderful.<BR>But I think it is always the 1st Sunday<BR>in each month and the Saturday that <BR>precedes it.

Celia, maybe you should e-mail the Arezzo tourist office and inquire about the actual dates for 2003. Some sources say it is the first WEEKEND in month, others say FIRST SUNDAY and previous Saturday. I've been several times--and it's a wonderful way to spend the day--but it has never been on split dates like this. Then, please do let us all know! Thanks.

I've stayed close to Chiusi. Chiusi is a small place - it has several good restaurants in town and on the outskirts. The one notable attraction is the Etruscan Museum and tombs, It is a pleasant place to be but is not heavilly touristed. The train/bus commections in Chiusi Scalo, about 3 miles away ar excellent!
