We rented from Farnum and Christ -- GREAT EXPERIENCE!! It wasn't the cheapest flat I found, but the customer service and location of the flat was PERFECT!!! We were very close to the Notting Hill Gate Tube stop and had an easy breezy time getting around everywhere we wanted to be! I can't say enough good things!

Oh and yes, the walk was pretty flat..I didn't notice a great deal of hilliness in London -- in Wimbledon yes!

Although, I recommend calling and chatting with Lisa or Ann. The are amazing and so helpful! Just make sure you have an hour to spare before you get on the phone -- no joke! These ladies love to talk!

Blightboy might be mistaking the Strand Palace for the Regent Palace which is or was a 900 room hotel at Picadilly circus.(it closed xmas 2006.

laustic, I know what you mean. I talk with Ann Christ fairly often -- she loves to discuss current London theatre. I'm glad it's on her long distance call, not mine.

I too wonder if Blightyboy mixed up Strand Palace with the Regent Palace. I've not been in the Strand Palace, but I always thought it was a decent place, and yes, I know the Regent Palace was a dump. I didn't know it had closed, though.

Yep - that whole quadrant of regent street is being redevolped - and that is one "historical bldg" that will not be missed.

At least we don't have to warn folks off of it anymore. (yes, Blightyboy surely mixed up the two hotels)

Patrick -- I believe you are the one that recommended Farnum and Christ to me last year! I am forever grateful! The flat made my stay in London a dream! I wouldn't do it any other way! It's completely changed how I look at travel!

Next trip to London is scheduled for X-mas 2008! We'll be needing at least a 4 bedroom flat to accomodate our large group so I'm not sure Farnum and Christ will be able to accomodate us, but I still plan on contacting them just in case.

Thanks again for the GREAT tip!

The City is not necessarily quiet on weekday evenings. There are plenty of City boy types drinking the night away, making lots of noise and various other things too. Depends which part of the City. Liverpool St and associated pubs/bars are ALWAYS busy.
